Major site rework!
The HaxLeague.com site is going to undergo major changes in the coming weeks. As it stands, the league is reliant on an external league management site, and players are tracked by groups on this forum. The website is HTML which means I have to go update code every time the statistics change to show the statistics on the home page. This is a slow and inefficient way to do things that takes a lot of time for me, and the league is not as beautiful as it could be.
Because of my past PHP experience, I will be creating a massive site - pretty much everything is going to change except for the design. The league will be managed by our own databases that will calculate every league position and statistic and make things a lot easier for HaxLeague, and of course make it look lovely.
NEW XP SYSTEM COMING TOO - I won't go into detail much but here's a brief comparison of HaxLeague before and after the new system:
The estimated arrival time of the first version of the site is mid December to mid January (it's difficult to give any correct estimations at this point).
I will be posting screenshots of the progress in this thread so everyone can see how things are going Please give your opinions and suggestions if you wish.

Screenshot from the first day - currently working on a script that automatically compiles a list of and displays all players and teams based on our databases, and clicking on them reveals further information

Re: Major site rework!
Thanks for the positive words! Another update (though I don't think the updates will always be so common)
Update on the player list - the script now picks out past players who have no team, and puts them in a different list.
Clicking on the player's name will reveal their goals, assists, clean sheets, awards, etc
EDIT: Just spotted the mistake that says 4 players in teams!

Re: Major site rework!
Update before I go to sleep - news will now be integrated within the site, rather than a twitter feed.
Re: Major site rework!
Probably should concentrate on trying to bring the level of the league up first :barri: ez pz 13-0 wins smh

Leave the league if there are problems The supersite will open up many opportunities for league growth
Update - a bit of work done on the news feed, homepage still a bit dull for my liking, but getting there :-)

Re: Major site rework!
At this rate, at least an early version of the new site should be up within a week. Won't be doing much work this weekend though, have a few things for uni due in on Monday
Re: Major site rework!
Update - the fixtures and results on the homepage have been made more compact, which will also give more attention to top scorers, assisters, and goalkeepers
http://puu.sh/1zdna
Another university piece of coursework is due in on Wednesday, so not sure how much work will be done until then. The big part will be coding the fixture and result management system, however everything should be prepared for season 3.
Another update - page support now works for the news, this is a fairly big step, happy to get this out of the way

Re: Major site rework!
Plenty of progress with the news. Clicking on a news article now shows it in full, and shows any attached images:
http://puu.sh/1AiSm
Clicking the comments link shows the comments box, doesn't look good, but will do the job for now, and can be changed later:
http://puu.sh/1AiTY
This means I can now get coding the fixture, result, table, and player statistic management system. Hopefully it all goes well

Re: Major site rework!
New page has been done - fixtures and results, which are now stored in our database. (btw, this might be a sneak preview of the season's first fixtures - some teams of course will change though)

Another new page - match preview page that shows the teams, their available players, and the date of the match.

Aye, the replay needs more emphasis. I could directly embed it in the page, but it starts playing by itself and takes attention off the match details. I'll probably make the link to replay clearer with big text, and clicking it reveals the replay, very much like the "Open/Close Mini-Chat" link when you go on the forum section of haxleague.com
I'm doing an experience and level-up system Scoring a goal gives you 2 xp, assist 1 xp, clean sheet 5 xp, gold award 30 xp, etc. Getting xp you level up, and there will be leaderboards for this Adding some individual player competition to the league, where being a good player and winning awards will help you advance in the leaderboard
Re: Major site rework!
Most difficult part of the site finally complete - the admin/moderator area It is now possible to add players, delete players, change player positions/teams/flags, and of course the biggest part of all, manage matches. It's a lovely management system and is so easy to use, not to mention quicker than leaguerepublic

From here, the only real part is to do the statistics like league table and top scorers - the new site will be out very soon The site will be released before i release the XP point system, but that will be developed before the start of the season anyway

Re: Major site rework!
Approximately how much excitement the new XP system will bring to HaxLeague...
Re: Major site rework!
Another absolutely huge part done, the league table script. Enjoyed the hell out of coding this, the table works perfectly and is very efficient on the database.
At this rate, the new site will be out in the next few days.

Re: Major site rework!
The full statistics page is now complete, absolutely delighted with it
http://puu.sh/1CxGd
The site is 95% complete and will be up sometime on Wednesday. Three pages will be developed after the site is released.

Re: Major site rework!
Currently working on getting the new site online - however the nameservers of the haxleague.com domain take a while to be updated by the hosting company. This might cause the new site to have to wait until Thursday
